What If His People Prayed

Tuesday, March 28, a friend and I were chatting online and she invited me to something. She also posted it in a Forum we both go to:

I'm looking down into the eyes of hopelessness They're crying out to me I see the pain It's so much more than youth should know It tears me apart What can I do to change what I see This vicious cycle Must come to an end..." ~ Hearts of the Innocent by Kutless

May I please borrow your attention for a moment? I would appreciate it if you would just read through this post and ponder what I'm saying and what you feel about it, even if you don't reply. Thank you.

"Statistics say...

There is more people/teenagers in this upcoming generation now than the world has ever seen before.

One half of those in this large teenage population are no longer virgins.

One million of them are pregnant.

Every year 340,000 of them get abortions.

One in four teenagers use illegal drugs.

Forty percent of these teens have inflicted self injury.

One in five have contemplated suicide.

Over 1,500 kill themselves every year.

Eighty-three percent of these teens believe truth is relative.

Ninety percent of all Christians are saved before they are twenty.

And today, thirty-five percent of the past generation confess to be Bible believing Christians. It is estimated that in this present generation, only four percent will confess to be Bible believing Christians."

The stats go on and on, and none of them are pleasant. Look where just the United States alone is going, not including or adding to these statistics the rest of the world and it's struggling! It's sad, isn't it? But not just sad. It's wrong. It shouldn't be this way. Often I've stood there silent, thinking I was helpless...

"However, we're not helpless. We don't have to stand by and do nothing. In fact, if we, as Christians, don't reach out, we will be called to account (Ezekiel 3:18-19). Several of us committed to spend 30 minutes a day in prayer throughout the month of February and God worked in amazing ways. Now we're going to make the same commitment for the month of April. Maybe you're not ready to commit 30 minutes a day, so commit to 10 or 15. It's really not about the time, but about seeking His face and making ourselves availible to be used by Him. There is so much work to do."

If you are interested, or know others who may be interested, spread the word. The more who call upon Him, the better. I look forward to seeing how God will work through us.

"When He saw the crowds, He had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Then He said to His disciples, 'The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into His harvest field." ~ Matthew 9:36-38

Here is the song...that inspired my friend to start this:

What if His People Prayed
What if the armies of the Lord
Picked up and dusted off their swords
Vowed to set the captives free
And not let satan have one more

What if the church, for heaven's sake
Finally stepped up to the plate
Took a stand upon God's promise
And stormed hell's rusty gates

Chorus:
What if His people prayed
And all who bare His name
Would humbly seek His face
And Turn from their own way

And what would happen if we prayed
For those raised up to lead the way
Then maybe kids in school could pray
And unborn children see light of day

What if the life that we pursue
Came from a hunger for the truth
What if the family turned to Jesus
Stopped asking Oprah what to do

He said that they would hear
His promise has been made
He'll answer loud and clear
If only we would pray

If My people called by My name
If they'll humble themselves and pray
If My people called by My name
If they'll humble themselves and pray

We would be glad if you joined us. There are so many people out there who need our prayers.
